"Pictures are for reference only." Have you ever judged a book by its cover? Have you been to a place that is under your expectation? Do their food taste what they look like? I've come up 9 of the prettiest restaurants, cafes or bakeries that I had been to in London, and I am going to reveal how I think about their quality in overall. So let's see if any of them has been way under my expectation?
This cafe is actually inside, or as part of the fashion clothing store in Shoreditch area in London. I went here basically because I found the picture of the "pink coffee" on the Internet. There was no fancy doorway or pretty interior for you to instagram it about, however the "latte" was perfect for picture! And the thing is, it didn't just look good but also taste very nice! It is a special rose latte that doesn't have coffee in it. I was a bit surprised when I knew it since I am not a coffee drinker and I felt like that was just specially made for me! How can you resist this prettiest pink "latte" on earth?
AIDA Shoreditch | 133 Shoreditch High St, London E1 6JE ★★★★★
I would say this could be the most prettiest restaurant I've seen so far. Look at the artificial wisterias on the ceiling, aren't they super romantic? It's like having a relaxing time in a indoor garden! I think it would be even better if you come here for a traditional British afternoon tea! I ordered a cake and a cup of juice, they were good but a bit overpriced. However, their afternoon tea set was relatively affordable (comparing to others). I'd definitely come back again!
Aubaine Selfridges | 2nd floor, 400 Oxford St, Marylebone, London, W1A 1AB ★★★★☆
Avocado! Who also loves this green baby? I'm madly in love with avocado and I do think that their food was in a very high standard. There's not much for you to take pictures about in the restaurant but how can you not take any photograph with the cutest Avo burger on the universe? Just make sure you find a perfect outfit to match their pretty ceramic wall and make your friend jealous! (It only works with anyone who loves avocado though...)
Avobar | 24 Henrietta St, London WC2E 8ND ★★★★☆
Honestly I came here because of the glass igloos, which they call them paradise pods. However, the pods are usually fully booked so I didn't manage to have a table over there but somewhere indoor. Imagine having a lovely meal inside the glass igloo, how could I not think that I was in paradise? There's not much for me to choose from their menu so I ordered some starters instead. They were surprisingly tasty and fun to share! I love the crispy squids very much! I wish next time when I came back there, I would be able to book a table in their paradise pod.
Coppa Club Tower Bridge | 3, Three Quays Walk, Lower Thames St, London EC3R 6AH ★★★★★
This is definitely the best bakery I have ever had across the UK, and I am not kidding. I first came across here because I was attracted by their front door! So I decided to order something to eat in (because I wanted to take more pretty pictures inside). I was so glad that I did that, even though I didn't take any pictures inside at the end... well, it's mainly because the DKA (picture on the right) doesn't look good in picture. LOL However, it was unexpectedly delicious! I would never judge a book by its cover ever again!
Dominique Ansel Bakery | 17-21 Elizabeth St, Belgravia, London SW1W 9RP ★★★★★
This is probably one of the cafes that I found it quite disappointing. Their food was just okay but very overpriced. And the interior wasn't as overwhelming as the others, probably because I've seen enough flower wall everywhere in London. I just didn't know why I waited for an hour for this. It is pretty for pictures, but it isn't "pretty" for my stomach.
Elan Cafe | 48 Park Ln, Mayfair, London W1K 1PR ★★★☆☆
This bakery is well-known because of how it looks! And i do think that they are very successful for that.Unfortunately, their cakes were literally nothing special and it tasted a bit like some frozen cakes that i could possibly get from a supermarket. Hmmm i would say my pictures are definitely for reference only....
Peggy Porschen Cake Ltd | 116 Ebury St, Belgravia, London SW1W 9QQ ★★★☆☆
This cafe has the same thing as Aubaine Selfridges but they made an artificial wisteria entrance instead. The interior is a bit similar to Elan Cafe too as there are some flower wall everywhere inside. So if you would like to take a few different images in one go, this is exactly where you should visit. I ordered some pancakes and a pot of fruit tea last time. It was nothing special, too. But at least it didn't taste like the ones that I could get in a supermarket. Haha.
Saint Aymes | 59 Connaught St, London W2 2BB ★★★☆☆
I have been here twice. But I didn't get a table for the first time because it was fully booked. The second time I tried to book a table online in advance so I made it eventually. I first thought that this place looked like a fine dining restaurant and I thought it would be very expensive. But the thing is, it is surprisingly affordable. It's very classy and pretty inside. The atmosphere was great. I enjoyed my stay very much. The food and service was amazing too. I ordered a spicy crab linguine and it was mouthwatering and delicious. I would love to come back and try different dishes next time!
The Ivy Chelsea Garden | 195-197 King's Road, London SW3 5EQ ★★★★★
Have you been to any of these restaurant? What do you think?
