Neighbourhood Travel Guide to North Point

In the Eastern District of Hong Kong, there is a treasure area called North Point. It is probably one of the not-so-touristy neighbourhood that you should definitely visit. There are so many local spots and historic places in the area for you to see and to appreciate. Let's read on to discover more about the northernmost point in Hong Kong Island today!



1. Chun Yeung Street & North Point Terminus


Chun Yeung Street is properly represented the local neighbourhood. It has earned a name of "Little Fujian" or "Little Shanghai"; it is also named as "Little Thailand" simply just because the "Ding Ding" tram passes through the street right next to the local markets. You will find loads of stores that sell food from Fujian and Shanghai there. Things are rather cheaper than any other markets in the area; which makes it the most visited neighbourhood in North Point for sure.


The North Point Terminus is located at one end of the Chun Yeung Street. It is No.3 tram terminal in North Point that only offers tram service to Shek Tong Tsui. There is a hidden local restaurant under the footbridge at the terminus. Make sure you stop by when you spot such secret place!


2. Sunbeam Theatre


One of the remaining Cantonese opera venue is located in the middle of North Point. The Sunbeam Theatre is a very popular performance venue since 1972 that everyone still goes for its best-known Cantonese opera. If you are keen on Hong Kong culture, or Cantonese opera, you should absolutely buy a ticket for a show, or two!


3. North Point Provident Square Food Court


Here's where you can eat: the North Point Provident Square Food Court is a two separated open areas that provide variety of food choices from omelette rice and Japanese kebab to spicy pickled fish and dessert. The themed food court is newly renovated. What a perfect place to eat and to Instagram about!


4. North Point Promenade & North Point Ferry Pier


If you are looking for a pet-friendly place to go in North Point, the North Point Promenade is where you should visit! This park is located in front of shopping malls Harbour North and the pet-friendly hotel Hyatt Centric Victoria Harbour Hong Kong. It is such a wonderful place to walk your dog and enjoy your day with ease. You will also find the North Point Ferry Pier there, where you can take ferries to Hung Hom, Kowloon City and Kwun Tong.
